Eagles' Tribute Band Starts Free Concert Series

Over three years in the formation of an Eagles tribute band here, The Long Run has done about 300 concerts, most of them at the regional level.

But now they're playing a concert in Maryland in July, a logical progression, said Reggie Fecteau, bass and vocals for the band. "Tribute bands have been really gaining ground in the last two years," he said. "You can go see a band without having to mortgage your house. People want to hear music if done right."

The long run leads to Liberty City "Friday Night Summer Series Tribute" Boca Raton at 7:30 pm June 20 at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. The Grateful Dead, Journey, U2, Jimmy Buffet and Billy Joel tribute band in separate concerts continue until 8 August.

"Some people may know the Eagles through their hits like 'Hotel California', 'Heartache Tonight', 'Desperado' and 'Life in the fast lane,'" Fecteau said by telephone from Saint-Alphonse-De-Rodríguez in Quebec, Canada.

"The Eagles Glenn Frey and we have our french fry," is how the band has joked, adding most of the musicians are locals.

Are the entrances to the audience can be adapted? "We put in sets of two hours and 45 minutes, but will change to some songs," Fecteau said. They also play songs by other musicians who once belonged to the Eagles, as Joe Walsh and Don Henley.

But are not perfectionists, and they did not expect their listeners were sitting still. "When I do 'Hotel California', let them sing the whole verse with us," he said.

"A lot of tribute bands I do exactly what they do,"
he said of the original group. "We want to entertain the audience with a little twist to it and enjoy you."

The band has a good following and lead the celebration of the Fourth of July in Fort Lauderdale, he added. Played the Mizner Park Amphitheater when they were new.

"We've had tribute bands here before," said Chrissy Biagiotti, community relations manager for the city. "They came to one of the shows and one of them approached me and said.’what we do and we are the Eagles of Boca" They had about 3,000 people."

That's one reason why the city is lining tribute bands again.”The music is timeless, and is not hard rock bands. Lots of memories of people are created," he said. "They are good and nostalgic.

"It becomes a fun tradition of having free concerts during the summer and being out and seeing friends and neighbors and families are," he added.

The term does not need legal permission to be a tribute band or the Eagles play music as long as they are playing live, Fecteau said.

"We were actually asked to be the backup for true Eagles Hall of Fame in Florida, but got delayed, and when the Eagles came to Miami played their after party. Neither of them appeared, but his entourage was there. "
